Is the FSD (Full Self-Driving) surcharge worth it, or is the standard Autopilot enough?
For the vast majority of Reddit users, the standard, free basic Autopilot (lane keeping + adaptive cruise control) is completely sufficient on the motorway and massively reduces driving stress. The expensive “Full Self-Driving” surcharge (or the monthly subscription) is often criticised on Reddit, as the system (especially outside the USA) does not yet run flawlessly and requires too many interventions in everyday use. Many use FSD more as a cool tech gadget, but advise newcomers to stick with the standard Autopilot at first.
