A study on the longevity of Tesla electric vehicles reportedly found that some vehicles reach mileages of over 400,000 km. For example, one Tesla Model S owner drove 520,000 km on the original battery, with battery capacity decreasing by only about 11 percent over that distance. Similarly, ride-service drivers in Vietnam using a Tesla Model 3 saw battery condition remain stable at 88 to 90 percent after three years and more than 410,000 km. Another report details the costs incurred by a Model 3 owner after four years and around 60,000 miles driven, compared to a vehicle with a combustion engine. It showed that the biggest cost burden was not maintenance or charging costs, but depreciation, while electricity expenses over the entire mileage were significantly lower than gasoline costs for a comparable vehicle.
