Frugal on the road, mediocre at the charger: The efficiency of the Model 3
Recent analyses attest that the Tesla Model 3 Premium RWD has a very low consumption of just 15.7 kWh per 100 kilometers. In a direct comparison, the Tesla even prevails against a concept that is explicitly designed for economy, such as Mercedes' "1-liter car of the electric age," which reaches 16.9 kWh on the highway, thereby reinforcing its reputation as an efficient electric car. The picture is not entirely unblemished, however. While the energy consumption while driving is convincing, the charging performance falls behind that of the Mercedes: charging from 10 to 80 percent takes 34 minutes with the Tesla, compared to 22 minutes with the CLA. In 20 minutes, the Mercedes thus recharges over 60 kilometers more than the Tesla. In return, the Tesla remains considerably cheaper. In this case, the colleagues note a price difference of 11,000 euros — and that is only the list price for the Mercedes, which does not yet include any optional equipment.
