GHG Reduction Quota Bonus for Electric Vehicle Owners Rises Again

According to ecomento.de, the THG bonus for electric vehicle owners is picking up speed again. Anyone who owns an electric vehicle receives compensation for it, because operating it saves greenhouse gases compared to combustion engine vehicles. This is possible because owners can sell the CO₂ savings of their vehicle to specialized providers and receive a payout once a year for it – currently the amounts, depending on the provider, are around 300 to 380 euros. Anyone wishing to participate registers with such a service provider and submits the vehicle registration certificate; the provider then takes care of everything else. The reason for the upward trend is stricter legal requirements for mineral oil companies, which must reduce their CO₂ emissions more than before. Because they often cannot achieve these targets on their own, they depend on purchasing savings from other parties – which benefits EV owners. Combined with lower maintenance and energy costs as well as additional funding opportunities, the THG bonus thus contributes to making electric cars increasingly worthwhile financially.
